Traveling Series - Santander
Last summer, and every summer, I have the incredible opportunity to travel back home - Spain. I grew up there. All my warm and fuzzy memories are from there...all over the place. We traveled quite a bit growing up.
When I was visiting, my husband Steve who was working his butt off back home, got me, the kids, my mother and brother a hotel in Santander for the weekend. Now, Santander is in the north of Spain. It is extremely close to my city but I had never been to this area before. This is were my mother spent her summers as a child. She had her first boyfriend there and everything! I have always envisioned it as the perfect beach town: small, quiet, and plain gorgeous.
We went to the beach, the boys played soccer and the girls talked and talked and talked. It was a dream in a dreamy location.
We also spent a month in my city - Valladolid. I just love being there. It gives me a sort of peace that I cannot get anywhere else. I am kind of an anxious traveler. Love travelling - don't get me wrong, but not being in my bed at night is a strange feeling for me.
I refuse to leave my camera behind nowadays. I feel like if I don't capture it, it never happened. My babies growing and spending time with loved ones, seeing my special places, castles, even the windmills on the road! I have to get in in my SD card for those days when I feel blue and need my home.
And the food! And the COFFEE!! man...there's nothing even comparable in the US. nothing. and I've tried all sorts of foods... Cafe con leche, Jamon Serrano, Tortilla Española...
I love Spain and cannot wait to get there in 2 days for my cousin's wedding (I can't express in writing how excited I am about this trip without little ones).
Another installment of my traveling experiences coming soon - this time about BARCELONA.
